 Nearly, 7 million years ago humans sprouted from apes. It was not a straight and easy path for our ancestors to evolve into super intelligent beings. 

We are the 9th specie of Humans, who have survived to live so far.The life of other 8 human species tells us how we came into being. Name of them are as follows,

 They are also known as the "handy man". Their fossils were discovered in 1960 in Tanzania. They were the first ones to branched from apes. They were evolved about 2.4 million years ago. They are known for their stone craft. They were used to make stone tools. 

was small, clocking in around 70 pounds and standing somewhere between 3.5 feet and 4.5 feet tall. They were used to made complex tools, including stones to butcher animals.

As, the name indicates they were the first ones to stand upright.They had shorter arms relative to torso, and long legs adapted for walking and running, rather than climbing trees.They had the larger braincase than that of apes.They also adapt themselves to smaller teeth and then adapt themselves to digest meat and protein efficiently.They were the first ones to dabble with cooking. They are known as "the enduring hiker". They existed about 110,000 years ago.

We don't know much about them. Their fossils were discovered in Kenya's Lake Rudolf.We only know that, They had larger braincase as compare to

Australopithecus, a close relative of homo, because of it's smaller size and similarities in the pelvis and shoulder. 

They are known as "the hunters". They existed around 700,000 years ago.They arrived on scene in Europe and Eastern Africa. Scientists think they were the first ones to live on the cold places. The remains of animals like horses, elephants,hippopotamuses and rhinoceroses were found along them. They were the first ones to learn how to control fire and they build simple shelters out of wood and rock.

Their remains were found in 2003 on the island of Flores, Indonesia. They existed about 100,000 years ago.Their isolation likely contributed to their small brains and statures. Approximately, their height was about 3 feet 6 inches estimated from the female specimen. In fact, their small size conforms to the ecological principle of insular dwarfism( it's a mechanism in which animals reduce their body size when their population's range is limited to a small environment).

They are our closest relatives among all of them. They existed around 400,000 years ago. They were shorter and stockier than us but had brains that were even larger than us. They had a tough life because they used to hunt heavier animals and to live in colder places. They crafted sewing needles from bones. They used to bury their dead ones with markings on their graves. That's why, scientists were able to extract DNA from their graves to study in detail. 

They were small hominids that lived in South Africa. They were discovered in late 2015, so we do not know much about them. In one single expedition 1550 specimens were collected ,we got to know that they were small around 4 feet and 9 inches. At the site of excavation, their wasn't any sort of tool or any animals' remains. So, their lifestyle is still unknown.  

They existed around 67,000 years ago. Their fossils were recovered in 2019, on the Northern Island of Indonesia (the name of that island is Luzon). Scientists only recovered 7 teeth, 3 foot bones and 2 finger bones. These remains are not enough to rule out any statement. We do not know much about them too. 

The present day humans are all from that same specie. We are the only human specie that has lived so far. We have the  1 to 8 percent DNA of Neanderthals. We are the 9th specie of humans. The previous 8 species paved the way for our existence and survival. That's how, we came into being.
