Despite being called an "autonomous region", Xinjiang has experienced a lack of genuine autonomy, and under Xi Jinping's rule, the situation escalated into a full-fledged genocidal policy, resulting in crimes against humanity. While international institutions play a crucial role in addressing human rights violations, their effectiveness can be limited, particularly when dealing with authoritarian countries like China and Russia. These nations have, at times, misused international systems to further their interests, with Interpol being one such example. Mr. Dolkun Isa himself fell victim to Interpol's misuse, enduring red notices for 21 years and facing detention in several countries due to accusations made by China and other authoritarian states. The presence of known human rights violations within the UN Human Rights Council, a significant and legitimate body for human rights, is a stain and disappointment for the institution. However, despite its imperfections, there is currently no alternative system available, making it essential to continue working within the existing framework.
